Configuring mail and calendar with Android OS. |
To use the native Google Apps mail, contacts, and calendar apps on your Android, you need to sign in to your Google Apps account. Instructions below are for users with a Nexus or Google Play edition device running Android 4.3 or higher. If you're using a different device, your setup instructions may vary.

Touch OK to agree to the Terms of Service. You will then be redirected to login.swarthmore.edu. Enter your Swarthmore username and password and click Login.

The device will sign in to the Swarthmore domain. This process may take a few minutes.
5. You may be presented with additional steps giving you the option to join Google+, opt in to Google Play communications, or set up a credit card to purchase Google Play media. You can choose to set these up or to skip them.
6. After completing these steps, you should see Account sign-in successful. You can choose which services you want to sync to the device.
That's it! You can now use Swarthmore’s Google Apps from your Android. Just launch Gmail, Google Calendar, or whichever app you want to use.
Going forward, you can change which services can sync with Swarthmore’s Google Apps on your device at any time by going to Settings > Google > touch your account.

Gmail and Google Calendar apps for Android
Our recommended solution is to download and use the Gmail and Google Calendar apps from the Google Play Store. These apps are free and offer more integration with Gmail than the built-in apps. Since your Android is a Google device, chances are you already have these apps.

Add a New Account
Once you add a Google account to your Android device all Google apps will be able to access it.
- Pull down the menu from the top of your screen and tap the Settings icon at the top-right.
- Choose Accounts and Backup, then Accounts.
- Tap Add Account.
- Choose the account type. For your Swarthmore account choose Google.
- You may be prompted to enter your device password for security.
- At the Google sign-in page, enter your full Swarthmore email address. And tap Continue.
- You will be brought to the Swarthmore login page. Enter your Swarthmore username and password.
- You will be prompted to authenticate with Duo. Choose your preferred method to do so.
- You will be asked what you want to sync with your device. Make sure Calendar and Gmail are on.
You can change the items you sync at any time by going back into the Accounts section, tapping your Swarthmore account, and then Sync Account.

Switch Between Gmail Accounts
If you have more than one Gmail account, messages on the Gmail app stay separate for each account. To switch between accounts:
- Open the Gmail app.
- At the top-right, tap your current account image.
- Choose the account you want to switch to from the list.
