Some faculty members find it useful to include an RSS feed in their Moodle courses. These can be from Swarthmore hosted sites (ex: e.g. a WordPress course site) , or from other publicly available sources.

  1. Log into the Moodle course and turn editing onOn the left menu click and

  2. In the Block Drawer on the right side of the page, click Add a Block.  If the left menu right side Block Drawer isn't visible, click the "hamburgerless-than" button (Open Block Drawer) on the top left right of the page.
  3. Choose Remote RSS feeds from the dropdown.
  4. The page will reload and there should now be a block in the right column labeled Remote News Feed. Click the gear icon in this block to configure the feed.From the Configuring a Remote News Feed block settings page, look for the setting labeled Choose the feeds which Block settings dialog will open
  5. Make your choices from the options here including:
    1. Whether to display each link's description
    2. Max number of entries to show per block
    3. Which feeds you would like to make available in
    this

  6. Click the Add a new feed button.
  7. Add the desired location to the Feed URL field.
  8. Set Shared feed to "No".
  9. Click the blue Add a new feed button.
  10. Navigate back to the course.
  11. Find the Remote News Feed block which you had created earlier. Click the gear icon to finalize the configuration.
  12. Configure the block to your liking, then
  13. Select the feed(s) you've added in previous steps, in the 3rd box of the Block Settings section labeled "Choose the feeds which you would like to make available in this block:"
  14. Click the blue Save Changes button.
