Connecting from Windows

  1. Click your Start button
  2. Select Search.
  3. Type in \\restech and press Enter. If prompted for credentials, enter GARNET\username in the username field, and your password. (Note** may need to type the complete address if print jobs fail to complete: \\restech.swarthmore.edu)
  4. Find the printer's queue name from the table at the top of this page.
  5. Double-click on the printer
    • it will install automatically and be available from your Printers control panel

Connecting from macOS

  1. Open System PreferencesSettings, select Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select the + (plus sign) to Choose Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax add a printer.
  3. Click the IP tab, represented as on newer versions of macOS.
  4. In the Address field, type restech (Note** may need to type complete address if print jobs fail to complete after a restart: restech.swarthmore.edu)
  5. Make sure the Protocol is set to theA globe icon tab at the top of the Add Printer page
  6. In the Address field, type restech
  7. For Protocol, choose Line Printer Daemon - LPD.For Queue, enter the queue name listed in
  8. In the Queue field, enter the printer queue name from the table at the top of this page.
  9. For Under Name,   copy and paste the name from the Queue fieldname from Queue field.
  10. Under Use, select the option for Select Printer Software....Search for and select , and search for the printer model listed in from the table at the top of this page.If prompted for the "Duplexer" option, check the box.   This allows you to print two-sided.
  11. Click Add. After you click click Add, the Printer list window will reappear with the selected printer added to the list of printers.

Connecting from macOS

Before you Begin: Download and install the Mac Printer Drivers first. Download Mac Drivers Run the installer. This installer may warn that it cannot open because it is from an unidentified publisher.  You can launch the installer by control-clicking on the file and choosing "open".  


  1. Open System PreferencesSettings, select Printing & Scanning, and click the lock in the lower left corner to make changes.Select the + (plus sign) to Printers & Scanners.
  2. Choose Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax add a printer.
