iOS Background Sounds: Focus, Calm, and Accessibility

Apple’s Background Sounds is an feature available on iPhones, iPads and Apple desktops running iOS 15 or later. We talk more about how it might be useful in Apple’s “Background Sounds”: Focus, Calm, and Accessibility in One Feature.

How to Set Up Background Sounds

On iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open Settings then Accessibility

  2. Go to Audio & Visual (under Hearing)

  3. Select Background Sounds

  4. Turn Background Sounds on

  5. Choose your preferred sound and decide if it should continue when the screen locks

Apple Desktops:

  1. Open System Settings then Accessibility

  2. Go to Audio

  3. Turn Background Sounds on and choose your preferences
