Troubleshooting Printer Issues

Power Cycling A Printer

If your networked printer has stopped working or has an error, try power cycling it to clear the residual memory.

First, check if the printer's ethernet cable is plugged into the wall jack, and securely plugged in at both ends. After that, power cycle the printer by following the directions below:

  1. Delete all jobs stuck in the print queue (the queue should be empty)

  2. Turn printer off

  3. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet

  4. Wait 30-45 seconds

  5. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet

  6. Turn printer on

  7. Wait while it finishes booting up

  8. Try printing again

If that doesn't fix the issue, or you're not able to clear the print queue, contact the Help Desk.
