Adding, Removing, and Editing Panes

Getting Started

  1. Make sure you've logged in to Drupal

  2. Navigate to a site that you have permission to edit.

Creating a new Pane:

  1. Hover over the yellow Site Administration area of the toolbar to reveal additional options.

  2. Choose Add New Pane from the options list.

  3. Choose the type of pane you intend to create.

Adding a Pane to a page:

  1. Once a Pane has been created, it can be incorporated into a page.

  2. Navigate to the page that should receive the new pane.

  3. Click on Site Administration in the upper-left corner of the toolbar.  This will open a drop-down menu.

  4. Select Arrange Panes. This will open a new window which will allow you add, arrange or remove Panes for the current page.

  5. Looking at the Arrange Panes window, you will notice a series of grey boxes that somewhat resemble the layout of your site. These grey boxes, Drupal refers to them as Panels, can be thought of as containers for your Panes. The specific Panels available are: 

    • Left Column

    • Center Column

    • Right Column

    • 2 Column Above

    • 2 Column Below

  6. Identify the Panel where you intend to place a new Pane. Click the gear icon located in the upper left corner of Panel. This will cause a drop down menu to appear.

  7. Select Add New Pane. This will cause a new window to appear. 

  8. Notice the left-column menu, Existing Site Panes. Select the type of Pane that you had previously created. 

  9. On the right-column of the window, you will notice a listing of all Panes that are currently available to your site. 

  10. Select the Pane that you wish to add to the page. 

  11. Select Finish. You will be returned to the Arrange Panes view and should now see your selected Pane in the Panel.

  12. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click Save

Removing a Pane from a page:

  1. Navigate to the page that has the Pane you wish to edit.

  2. Click on Site Administration in the upper-left corner of the toolbar.  This will open a drop-down menu.

  3. Select Arrange Panes. This will open a new window which will allow you add, arrange or remove Panes for the current page.

  4. Identify the Pane that you wish to remove from the page. Click the gear icon located in the upper right corner of that Pane. This will cause a drop down menu to appear.

  5. Select Remove.

  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click Save.

Editing an existing Pane:

  1. Navigate to the page that has the Pane you wish to edit.

  2. Click on Site Administration in the upper-left corner of the toolbar.  This will open a drop-down menu.

  3. Select Arrange Panes. This will open a new window which will allow you add, arrange or remove Panes for the current page.

  4. Identify the Pane that you wish to remove from the page. Click the gear icon located in the upper right corner of that Pane. This will cause a drop down menu to appear.

  5. Select Edit. This will open a window that will allow you to edit the pane.

  6. After making your changes, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click SaveNote: all changes to Panes are automatically published. Panes do not have a Draft mode.
