Preventing Ads Before YouTube Videos

Preventing Ads Before YouTube Videos

When showing a YouTube video in class, ads can be distracting and annoying. A workaround to avoid ads is embed the video in a Google Slide.

Embed the video in a Google Slide

If the video is added to a Google Slide it will not display ads.

  1. Create a Google SlideĀ

  2. Under insert menu, select Video

  3. Paste the URL of the YouTube video you want

In class, start the slideshow and play the video within the slideshow. There is an option to make the video full screen.

Other Options

YouTube Premium is a subscription service that removes ads for a monthly fee. Our Google Workspace license does not let us purchase YouTube Premium for Swarthmore users. It would be possible to use a personal Google account and pay for this service but ITS cannot cover the cost.
