Wireless Projection

Wireless Projection

ITS has installed wireless projection capabilities in most spaces around campus.  This can be handy to reduce the amount of time needed to set up for a class, allow instructors to walk around the classroom while presenting, and permit students to project from their own laptops and mobile devices.  Presenting wirelessly via your own device also provides a relatively contact-free way of presenting.

The two legacy systems in use - Apple TV and Mersive's Solstice Pod - are currently in the process of being replaced by Screenbeam.

Apple TV

Apple TVs allow Apple devices (Macs, iPhones, and iPads) to project wirelessly using the AirPlay feature.

Getting Started with Apple TV and AirPlay

Use AirPlay to display video from your Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Mersive Solstice

Solstice is a device that allows for wireless presentation from virtually any laptop, tablet or phone. To use Solstice, either go to https://www.mersive.com/download/ from your laptop or search for Solstice from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOs) to download the app. The user must be able to connect via Eduroam. Once connected, follow the on-screen instructions to start displaying. Solstice allows for up to four users to present simultaneously

Screenbeam

ITS is currently in the process of rolling out Screenbeam campus-wide. Screenbeam natively uses Miracast and Airplay to respectively display Windows and Apple Devices. Android Devices use the Cast feature.

To use Miracast, simply press the Windows Key + K and select the local Screenbeam unit from the list that pops up. A prompt will appear to enter a four digit code, which will appear on screen.
